Used Book Store Announcement

Because of space limitations the Friends of the Library have made the following changes to their policy for accepting used books.  Please be considerate and follow this policy when considering material for the store:

Space constraints force the Friends of the Library to request that donations include only gently used books, DVDs, CDs, and that all items be in saleable condition.  The Book Store cannot store, display or sell old textbooks, dictionaries or torn, soiled or musty books, all of which need to go to the dump. Pre-2005 travel guides, atlases or textbooks are also too space consuming and no one has purchased an encyclopedia in years.  With a heavy heart these must also be consigned to the dump.

If you have a collection you feel is worthwhile, please check the internet for these organizations: "SellUsedBooks.com", "Cash4Books.net"and "UsedBookSell.com" as well as "DowntownDonations.com", all of which purport to accept, even collect used books. In the meantime, come to the Book Store and buy! buy! buy! and free up space for more donations to come

Thank you for your generosity and cooperation!

Libraries are...

"Libraries are the mainstays of democracy. The first thing dictators do when taking over a country is close all the libraries, because libraries are full of ideas and differences of opinion, all the things we say we want in a free and open society. So keep 'em, fund 'em, embrace and cherish 'em".  Author David Baldacci (2014)
